Scarf Headband

Today was the first hot summer day in Holland. Wiiehooo! Colorful scarfs and nice shorts are my favourite items for the summer.

The scarf headband is easy and quick to make: Just twist and twirl :) It pimps an easy and casual outfit.

I finally found a nice perfect nude nailcolor!! Definitely going to buy a back-up soon, 'cause I'm sure that I'm going to run out of it soon enough..

Beautygloss Party 2012

Gisteren was het weer eens zover: De 2e editie van de beautygloss party. Deze werd gehouden in de Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. En yep, daar was ik bij samen met een vriendin. We waren er erg benieuwd naar, omdat er allerlei verhalen rond ging over dit event. (Ik ben zelf geen volger, maar Mascha is zeker een leuke blogger!)
Er waren allerlei merken die spullen verkochten, o.a. l'Occitane, Green Land, Hanna, Sally Hansen, Josh V ...
Daarnaast waren er workshops en standjes waar je leuke dingen kon doen. Bij Sally Hansen kon je bijvoorbeeld je nagels laten lakken en je kon je huid laten testen bij Hanna, make-up laten doen, haar laten doen, fotoshoot doen... heel veel dus. Je stond alleen wel heel erg lang in de rij, dat kan natuurlijk ook niet anders als je bedenkt dat er 1500 bezoekers waren.
Officeel kon je om 12 uur naar binnen, wij waren er rond een uur of half 1. Het eerste wat je ziet voor de beurs van Belage is een HELE LANGE rij, loopt helemaal door tot aan het einde van de Bijenkorf, als niet verder. Allerlei toeristen die fotos namen haha en mensen die dachten dat er gratis dingen kon krijgen ...

Nice try?

Last week I had a toga party. Where everyone needed to make their own toga.

For me a great opportunity ofcourse to finally challenge myself to design and make a dress as I've always wanted to. My thought was as simple as it could be: Why not give it a try? And thats where I started to make a big mess in my studio (which is basically my room, and the living room ... and maybe just a few other rooms as well).

For the dress I used a satin fabric and bought some gold-colored pieces to match the theme. Out of those I made 2 belts to decorate the dress, so that it wouldn't be too plain. I know, I know, minimalism is kind of a big thing right now in fashion. But still, I personally prefer the clothes that I wear to have a little bit of details. You know, just a little exotic. (Makes me happy) :)

I actually bought the fabric and accesories before I made my sketch. I guess I get inspired that way.

At first, I thought cutting is going to be the biggest challenge. But once I started, I figured that as a total dummy, the sewing machine is not really a thing that automatically does whatever I want it to do (as I always thought). I tried really hard to love that thing, couldn't help the fact that we still have a love-hate relation though...
And finally ... the result!

 

And the accessories I paired with the outfit... The ring, I've had quite a while, and I love it.
